In global perspectives we started to discuss about how global trade and globalization affects our lives. After reading a text about these, we had to answer some questions:
1. Do you consider these sorts of relationships to be an inevitable part of global trade?
2. Should factors such as the environment, human health, or the gap between rich and poor play a greater role in international relations, whatever the cost?
3. What is your own opinion about the issue?
4. What more can you find out about this issue? Make a summary of the different opinions you find.
1. I personally believe that this fact is an inevitable part of global trade as far as developing countries have their own industries to get these modern technologies. The problem is that developing countries buy the phones that in the developed countries are old, so by the time they start to work bad, they are thrown away and they finally pollute our environment. Besides, developing countries do not have the technology to reuse these old phones as developed countries does.
2. Yes, actually we live in the same planet, it doesn't matter in which countries we live. Apart from that, in terms of the environment, in long terms all countries will be affected. I think it is mostly a matter of solidarity with all countries although these are difficult issues .
3. My opinion is that is very unfair that people who assemble the technologies have a very low salary comparing it with the price of the item assembled. I don't know why but i´m pretty sure that those people who work in the factories do not have a good economic situation as they deserve. Concerning the second paragraph, this is something that have to change although it can be very difficult, the cruel part of this is that richer countries take advantages of poorer countries giving their waste to them.
4. Globalization and global trade are issues very important nowadays, that is why a debate has started towards why these facts are important and good or why they aren't profitable.
The ones who say that global trade and globalization are important argue that due to these, poor countries tend to grow faster. Actually there are a lot of countries that were not able to grow since they didn't accept trading. Another fact is that working conditions have improved as well as workers wages.
The problem is that global trade and globalization do not help the poorest countries since these countries do not have a stable economy. Another negative aspect is that competition starts when globalization starts, many international industries set in developing countries, so people who have their own national industries are eliminated and left with no work.
